TRAVEL INFORMATION
Passports required. A $27. US $ tax is paid at time of departure.
Currency is the colon but most places will accept US dollars. Major bank cards, visa, and master card machines are found in most larger centers. It is difficult to cash travelers cheques and I do not recommend them.
Clothing: Temperatures vary throughout the country. A light sweater or jacket will come in handy as will a pair of slacks. Good foot wear for walking and sandals for the beach are advised.
Accommodation: December and January is school break. Nationals are traveling as well as tourists, it is advisable to book ahead as tourism is growing.
Car rental: Roads are improving. Remember Costa Rica land mass may be small but getting around is not simple. We express everything in length of time to get there. 135 kilometers takes 3 hours traveling on a major paved road.
