Our Story

The farm’s history begins with Costa Rican roots.

Prior to 1993 it was a conventional farm and produced coffee, sugar cane, and oranges.  It was owned by Costa Ricans

In 1993 it was purchased as a winter escape by Canadians.

Ecological & Ethical farming (meaning no use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides) and providing fair wages are practiced.

The well groomed orchard is thanks to Ramon & Edwardo Monge. For over 25 years Ramon has cared for this piece of paradise.

Harvesting includes the local community and Ramon’s family.

As part of an ever growing number of like minded people, we share information that is beneficial to all.

Habitat for birds has flourished.  Less intense growing practices and more shade grown production, provides nesting trees for man species of birds.

Networking amongst local Costa Ricans provides us with a greater insight into the challenges they face.

Orchard del Sol has been a piece of paradise to many tourists as they escape Canadian winters. Hosting guests is part of the farms sustainability.

Our ideals are:

    Care for the environment

    Natural farming practices.

    Fair trade and fair wages.

    Guests & Visitors Welcome
